Diva Mugsy

When Mugsy was around 6 months old his attention on me began to drift, and waver and suddenly I was no longer the most interesting thing in the room. So I increased the value of what was in my hand. Like magic Mugsy was back to being my attentive pup. His enthusiasm was back up for training and he was focused again. The need for this high a value treat eventually vanished and now it is just given as extra special reward for fun.

These are some of the easiest dog biscuits I’ve ever made. They get stinky, and have the potential to spoil quickly so I recommend freezing them in one day portions and thawing in the fridge the night before you want to use them.

Ingredients

  • 1 14.75 oz can  pink salmon
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper
  3. Combine all ingredients into the bowl, do not drain the salmon juice.
  4. Mix the ingredients
  5. Spread mixture evenly onto a cookie sheet. I recommend using your hands with flour on them and just pressing on the dough to do this.
  6. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes. The longer you cook the crisper the treat will be. For a moister treat spread the batter thicker, or cook for less time.
  7. After removing the treats from the oven dump the cooked salmon biscuit onto a prepared surface, or secondary cookie sheet. Peel the parchment off the back of the still warm biscuit.
  8. Slice the biscuit using a knife into smaller more dog treat like sizes.

Your hand will probably smell a bit like salmon after a training session or walk, but if your pup adores these as much as Mugsy than it is worth it.
